What's Open, Closed For Thanksgiving 2025 In Fredericksburg
The Thanksgiving holiday will prompt closures around Fredericksburg, and some will continue into Friday.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Thanksgiving Day falls on Thursday, Nov. 27 this year, bringing a holiday break for students and employees.
Government offices, schools and some businesses will close for the holiday observance. Many government offices and services will also be closed on Friday, Nov. 28 for Black Friday, making it a four-day weekend.
If you're looking to work up an appetite ahead of your Thanksgiving feast, why not take part in the 33rd Annual YMCA Turkey Trot? The trot starts promptly at 7 a .m. on Thursday with the boys 9-12 years old mile run, with the girls 9-12 years old mile run at 7:05 a.m. Mile runs for boys and girls 8 and under get underway at 7:10 a.m. and 7:15 a.m., respectively. Runners in the 5K run will head out in three waves starting at 7:30 a.m.

The Ice Skating Rink at Riverfront Park will be open 5-9 a.m. Thursday and Friday, and 10 a.m to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Reserve your tickets for timed entrances.

- Spotsylvania County Government Offices: All county offices and facilities are closed on Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28.
- Stafford County Government Offices: Closed on Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28
- State Courts: Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court are closed on Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28
- Fredericksburg Public Schools: Closed on Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28
- Spotsylvania County Public Schools: Closed on Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28
- Stafford County Public Schools: Closed on Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28
- Fredericksburg Law Enforcement Offices: Closed on Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28
- Fredericksburg Trash & Recycling: All curbside trash and recycling collection will happen as usual on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday during Thanksgiving week. Private haulers: If you use a private trash service, contact them directly to find out about their specific holiday schedule, as it may differ from the city's.
- Belman Road Recycling Center and the Stafford Landfill will be closed Thursday. Both locations will be open normal hours Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., as well as Saturday and Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Central Rappahannock Regional Library: All branches will be closed Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28
- Post Offices: Closed Thursday, Nov. 27.
- FRED Transit: FRED Transit will not operate on Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28.
- VRE: No service on Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28
