Woman Dupes Deputy In Hospital Escape In Fredericksburg: SCSO

A woman in police custody undergoing a medical evaluation at a hospital early Friday morning duped a deputy and briefly escaped: SCSO.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA—A woman in police custody undergoing a medical evaluation at Mary Washington Hospital early Friday morning duped a deputy and briefly escaped before being found hiding on hospital grounds, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. Amber Rogers, 29, of Fredericksburg, was charged with escape—along with her original charge of possession of a controlled substance.

During the 4:45 a.m. evaluation, say police, Rogers "slipped into a bathroom, which—unbeknownst to the deputy supervising the room—had a second door, allowing her to exit." When police realized what had happened, K-9 units and a drone team responded to the area. Ultimately, Rogers was found by hospital security hiding in a vehicle on the property.
