Your Guide for Getting to the Stars and Stripes Spectacular

The ninth annual Spotsylvania Stars and Stripes Spectacular will begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 29.

With up to 30,000 people expected to attend the Stars and Stripes Spectacular in and around the Spotsylvania Courthouse area, you'll want to plan ahead for your arrival, parking and departure.

Your best bet is to park at Courtland High School, 6701 Smith Station Rd., and take the free shuttle bus to the event. "Those coming to enjoy the festivities are strongly encouraged to leave their cars behind at Courtland High School so they won't have to scramble for the very limited parking available in the event area," Kathy Smith, event spokesperson, said.  "Another strong point of emphasis is to leave dogs at home -- canines usually don't enjoy large crowds and the noise of fireworks," she said.

Road closures in the area will begin as early at 9 a.m. Saturday.

  • Judicial Center Lane and Richard Samuels Lane will close at 9 a.m. to general traffic.  Exceptions allowed for set-up and emergency use.
  • Courthouse Road Bypass (208) and Brock Road/Courthouse Road (Routes 208  and 613) to Massaponax Church Road will be closed from 9 - 10 p.m. for the fireworks display.
  • Additional road closures may occur on Brock Road between Old Battlefield Blvd. and Courthouse Road at the end of the fireworks to allow the movement of shuttle buses to satellite parking areas.
