3 Maryland Residents Face Gun, Drug Charges After Traffic Stop on Richmond Highway

Two guns were recovered, including one that police said was stolen from out of state.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- Three Maryland residents are facing gun and drug charges after a traffic stop Thursday afternoon on Richmond Highway, according to Fairfax County Police.

On Thursday, at about 4 p.m., Neighborhood Patrol Unit officers conducted a traffic stop in the 6000 block of Richmond Highway (see map below) for a traffic violation. There were four people in the car, the driver and three passengers. During their investigation, they determined the driver, Claude Marshall, 29, of Maryland, provided false identification to the officers and had outstanding warrants from another jurisdiction, police said. They subsequently searched the car and found two firearms and narcotics. One gun was confirmed to be stolen from out of state, according to police.

Police said Marshall was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license, providing false identity to law enforcement, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm while possessing a schedule I/II narcotic, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a schedule I/II narcotic, possession with the intent to distribute a schedule III narcotic, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, and three counts of possession with the intent to distribute a schedule I/II narcotic.

Two passengers in the car were also arrested; the third was released without charges. Police said that Treanie Britt, 24, of Maryland, was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession with the intent to distribute a schedule III narcotic, and two counts ofpossession with the intent to distribute a schedule I/II narcotic. Jason Marshall, 30, of Maryland, was charged with possession of marijuana, according to police. The investigation is ongoing.
