Fire Engulfs Groveton Residence

Fire and rescue personnel were called to the scene of a residential fire Monday night.

UPDATE 10:50 p.m.: A male occupant of the home was reportedly displaced by the fire and accepted Red Cross assistance.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue crews responded to a call about a fire at a Groveton residence on Monday evening.

The fire was reported on the 3200 block of Clayborne Avenue Monday around 7:45 p.m.

According to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Captain William Moreland, crews arrived on the scene to find a “heavy fire” displaying from the structure.

“They used an aggressive exterior tack to fight the fire from the outside,” Moreland said.

No one was home at the time, and no one was injured, according to Moreland.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
