Funeral for Fort Hunt ES Teacher Set for Friday

Funeral services for David Matthews, a School Aged Child Care (SACC) teacher at , will be Friday morning at a church in Maryland, a SACC program coordinator confirmed.

Matthews, 32,  was shot and killed on Longfellow Street in Northwest Washington early Saturday morning, according to a Fox News report. Police are offering a $25,000 reward to anyone with  information that could lead to the capture of his killer. 

Fox said Matthews died at the hospital, leaving behind his two-year old daughter Zuri. His girlfriend is due with their second child in August.

Matthews had been assigned to Fort Hunt Elementary School as a SACC teacher for three years. SACC offers childcare for students before school, after school and during school vacations in many county elementary schools.

Funeral services will be held at Community of Hope AME Church at 3701 Branch Avenue, Temple Hills, Md.  The viewing is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.  The service starts  at 11 a.m.
