After Crash, Police Close Route 1 To Reconstruct Scene

Update Thursday: Police will close Route 1 between Route 7100 and
Telegraph Road Thursday between 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to reconstruct
the scene of Monday night's fatal car accident.

Police say Carlos Sanchez-Ramos was driving while intoxicated on Route 1 northbound Monday during rush hour when he struck a car driving by Paul Krause. Krause's car subsequently struck a Mercedes which was traveling in the southbound lane injuring the two occupants of that vehicle.

In the car with Sanchez-Ramos was another male and a three-year old boy. Sanchez-Ramos fled the accident site with the boy, but was apprehended a short distance from the scene.

It was later reported that Sanchez-Ramos is in the country illegally, having been deported to his native Honduras in 2004, but returning to the United States sometime afterward. Sanchez-Ramos was also driving with suspended license, having lost it previously due to drunk driving. He faces a number of charges including manslaughter.
