Metropolitan School of the Arts Welcomes Award-Winning Music Director Walter "Bobby" McCoy to Musical Theatre
Alexandria, Virginia Performing Arts Studio Hires Helen Hayes Award Winner

Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) is thrilled to announce the appointment of highly acclaimed music director Walter "Bobby" McCoy to its private music lesson team and musical theatre workshop faculty. McCoy, a distinguished Nicaraguan-American artist and multiple Helen Hayes Award winner and nominee, brings a wealth of professional experience and a passion for mentorship to MSA students.
McCoy is a prominent figure in the Washington, D.C. area and regional theater scene. His musical journey began early, starting as a piano accompanist for his high school chorus at age 14 and quickly progressed to rehearsal pianist roles for local theaters by age 15. This early dedication led to his first assistant music director position while still in high school for Keegan Theatre’s production of National Pastime.
Over the years, McCoy has built an impressive and diverse resume. His notable credits as a music director include critically acclaimed productions such as In the Heights (GALA Hispanic Theatre), Legally Blonde (Keegan Theatre), Beauty and the Beast (Olney Theatre), and Masterclass (Arizona Theatre Company). His work has been recognized with multiple Helen Hayes Award nominations and wins
