MOUNT VERNON, VA — A variety of properties on the real estate market in the Mount Vernon area were featured in the latest episode of "If You Lived Here" on PBS station WETA Monday night.

"If You Lived Here" is a real estate-focused series highlighting neighborhoods and houses in the DC region. As hosts Christine Louise and John Begeny explore listings at different price points with real estate agents, they also explore the neighborhoods' characteristics and history.

In the nearly 30-minute episode on Mount Vernon, realtor Lauren Kolazas shows the hosts three properties. Viewers are asked to guess homes' listing prices before they are revealed on the show.

Real estate prices in the Mount Vernon area real estate market vary by area. Kolazas said one-level single-family homes are priced around $600,000. Listings south near George Washington's Mount Vernon can get more expensive — often in the multimillions for waterfront mansions.

The first listing is a 1950s home in the Bucknell Manor neighborhood. Highlights of the home include a large window in the front overlooking gardens, updated kitchen, outdoor kitchen, garden box with a trellis, addition with a fireplace and four bedrooms. The listing is priced at $695,000.

The second property is one of the Charles Goodman-designed homes in Hollin Hills dating back to 1949. Kolazas said it is the oldest home built in Hollin Hills, as the previous oldest home is no longer there. Goodman had designed 450 mid-century modern homes after World War II, making Hollin Hills the largest mid-century modern community in the DC region.

This particular four-bedroom listing has large windows that bring light and views of greenery into the home. Other highlights include a unique backsplash in the kitchen, rain shower, anti-fog mirror and exposed brick wall in the bedroom. The listing price is $1.05 million.

The third home is a colonial on what was once part of George Washington's farm land in Mount Vernon. Residents whose homes are on Washington's land get a special membership to the George Washington's Mount Vernon estate, according to Kolazas.

The 1974 colonial takes inspiration from Washington's estate, incorporating neoclassical, Palladian and Georgian architecture, Kolazas said. Highlights of the four-bedroom home include an indoor pool and jacuzzi, a foyer with a curved staircase, French doors leading to a covered porch, and traditional living and dining rooms. The listing price is $1.475 million.

The episode also explores notable sites in the Mount Vernon area, including George Washington's Mount Vernon, Distillery and Gristmill, Woodlawn Mansion, Frank Lloyd Wright's Pope-Leighey House, and Hollin Hills.
