The Seguin family has sold Girl Scout cookies across the world.

Local Girl Scouts braved the cold, rainy weather to set up shop selling cookies Friday at Mount Vernon-area businesses.

The Seguin family sold cookies at the Beacon Mall Giant that afternoon. Mom Nancy Seguin’s son and daughters are all involved in Scouting. The Seguins are a military family currently stationed at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland and they are also collecting cookie donations for Wounded Warriors.

“We’ve sold cookies in many places across the world, including Europe and the U.S.” Nancy said.

Nancy’s daughters, Sonia and Marie, have been involved in Girl Scouts for a combined total of 18 years. Last year, the girls sold Girl Scout cookies in Columbus, Missouri. Sonia sold 2,012 boxes to commemorate the Girl Scouts 100 year anniversary. Part of the cookie funds earned a laptop computer and a trip to Juliette Low’s birthplace in Savannah, Ga.

The girls hope to go to Great Wolf Lodge this year with some of the money they’ve raised from cookie sales.
