Possible Witness Sought in Huntington Homicide: Police

Fort Hunt Elementary teacher's aide may have been killed trying to stop car break-ins in parking lot at his apartment complex.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- Fairfax County Police Thursday released a sketch of a possible witness in the homicide of a Fort Hunt Elementary school teacher's aide who was shot and killed early Friday in the parking lot of his apartment complex in Huntington.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the female who may have information regarding the homicide that occurred on Friday, May 20, around 2:20 a.m. in the 6000 block of Richmond Highway.

The body of Tarreece John "TJ" Sampson, 24, was found, shot multiple times, Friday after 2 a.m. in the parking lot at the Cityside Huntington Metro apartment complex in the 6000 block of Richmond Highway (see map below). He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Fairfax County Police.

The female in the sketch was seen in the parking lot prior to the incident, police said. She was described as black, with a light complexion and almond-shaped eyes, police said.

Sampson was an employee of the Fairfax County Public Schools, according to police. He was a part-time teacher's aide at Fort Hunt Elementary School, a graduate of Iona College in New York with a bachelor's degree in Marketing, and was working to become a youth mentor at his church, according to ABC7 News reporter John Gonzalez.

Sampson's family told ABC7 that days before his murder he had a job interview for a special education teaching position.
