'Victim' Turns Out to Be ATM Robbery Suspect: Police
Police say the robbery suspect also stabbed the victim, when a struggle took place.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- When Fairfax County Police responded to a call for help early Friday just after 1 a.m. near a 7-Eleven store on Fairhaven Avenue (see map below), they found a man who claimed he was assaulted by three men.
The man, Tyrone Augustus Broom, 53, was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
At the same time, police responded nearby to the 2500 block of Belleview Avenue, for a report of a robbery. The victim explained he had withdrawn a small amount of cash from an ATM at the 7-Eleven on Fairhaven Avenue. After he withdrew the cash, a man robbed him, he told police. He explained that the two had struggled and the victim was stabbed, police said. The victim was able to get to his nearby residence after he was stabbed.

The victim was also transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Following an investigation, detectives and officers determined that Broom was actually the suspect of the robbery report (outside the 7-Eleven) and the stabbing. Broom, 53, was arrested and charged with robbery and malicious wounding.
