• County issues statement to clarify recent reassessment (rrecord.com) — Heathsville residents are being assured that rising property assessments are driven by a strong real estate market, not school system funding needs, according to a statement read at the December 11 Northumberland supervisors meeting. County administrator Luttrell Tadlock also noted that Virginia law requires an equalized tax rate calculation so supervisors can see what rate would keep revenue level before they set next year’s budget.
