2 Men Charged After Shootout With Herndon Officer: Police
Police have arrested two Maryland men in connection with an officer-involved shooting in Herndon.
HERNDON, VA — Two men from Maryland face charges after police say one of them exchanged gunfire with an officer following a robbery in Herndon.
Police say 22-year-old Edward Raul Mejia Sandoval and 34-year-old Manuel Enrique Casco robbed a local business in the 700 block of Elden Street shortly after 7 p.m. on Sept. 2, according to a report from the Fairfax County Police Department.
The two men entered the business and displayed a handgun, demanding money and assaulting two female employees, the report states.

"A Town of Herndon police officer encountered the suspects running from the business," the report states. "The officer chased the suspects on foot when one suspect displayed a handgun. There was then an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and the officer with no reported injuries. Mejia Sandoval was quickly taken into custody by Herndon police officers while Casco was arrested a short time later after an armed carjacking in the 1000 block of Elden Street."
Mejia Sandoval faces two counts of robbery and two counts of threatening to abduct with the intent to defile, and Casco faces charges of robbery, carjacking, and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. They are being held without bond.
