Shooting Suspect Dead Following Barricade in Herndon Area: Police

Officer-involved shooting ended barricade near Village Center at Dulles on Monday afternoon, according to Fairfax County Police.

HERNDON — A standoff in the Herndon area has ended with an officer-involved shooting. A person suspected in a domestic shooting Monday afternoon had been barricaded in a town home, according to Fairfax County Police. The suspect was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead, according to a police statement.

Three people had been injured by the suspect, according to police. Two victims were shot and are being treated at an area hospital. One person was treated at the scene for unspecified injuries.

The incident in the 13300 block of Covered Wagon Lane was first reported by police on social media shortly after 3 p.m. Monday.

Soon after, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue reported working a tw0-alarm fire in the same block. Authorities have not confirmed the two incidents are related.
