3 Big Winners In VA As Powerball Jackpot Grows To $1.4B
The Powerball jackpot went unclaimed, but three Virginia players won lesser prizes in Wednesday's drawing. The prize grows to $1.4 billion.
VIRGINIA — What is now the third-largest Powerball jackpot in history is up for grabs on Saturday, as no one scored the $1.2 billion jackpot Wednesday and the prize grows to $1.4 billion on Oct. 7. The estimated cash value of Saturday's prize is $643.7 million.
However, three players in Virginia won lesser prizes of $50,000, said lottery officials.
The winning numbers for Wednesday, Oct. 4 were: 09, 35, 54, 63, and 64, with the red Power Ball number of 01. The Power Play was 2X, possibly multiplying the prize.

A total of 86,410 tickets bought in Virginia won prizes in the Wednesday, Oct. 4, Powerball drawing.
That includes three tickets that each won $50,000, Virginia Lottery officials said. Those three tickets each matched four of the first five winning numbers plus the Powerball number. They were bought at:

All Virginia Lottery profits, including those from the sale of Powerball tickets, go to K-12 education in Virginia. In fiscal year 2023, the lottery raised more than $867 million for K-12 education, making up about 10 percent of Virginia’s total K-12 school budget.
So far in 2023, Powerball players in Virginia have won:
- Twelve $100,000 prizes
- Seven $150,000 prizes
- One $200,000 prize
- One $300,000 prize (a player had two $150,000 wins in the same drawing)
- Three $1 million prizes
- A $161 million jackpot
Powerball tickets can be purchased at any of more than 5,300 Virginia Lottery retailers statewide or online using the Virginia Lottery app.
Saturday's drawing will be the fifth-largest jackpot in U.S. history.
