Armed Robbery Thwarted In Herndon: Police

An armed man fled a Herndon store empty-handed after a confrontation, police say.

HERNDON, VA -- Police are looking for a suspect after an armed man entered a Herndon store, got into a confrontation, and then fled with nothing, police say.

The suspect entered a store in the 1000 block of Elden Street shortly before 6 p.m. on Jan. 20 and displayed a weapon, demanding cash, according to a report from the Herndon Police Department.

"After a confrontation with the victim, the suspect fled the store with no cash or merchandise," the report states.

Police described the suspect as "heavy-set, Hispanic male, wearing a dark gray and orange color jacket with the hood on, orange or red beanie hat under the hood, light color pants with a square pattern, dark color gloves, and a white bandana with black spots covering the bottom half of his face. He was wearing black Nike shoes with white swoosh and soles."
