Fairfax County Park's Authority Hosts Poetry Contest for Kids Ages 5-13
Fairfax County Park Authority is hosting a poetry competition for children between the age of 5-13 to submit poems on why they love parks.

The Fairfax County Park Authority is looking for children who love poetry and parks. In honor of the Park Authority’s 65th anniversary and National Poetry Day, which is on October 8th, the Park Authority is looking for children ages 5-13 to submit poems on why they love parks.
Rules include a word limit of 100 words or less and only allow one original submission by each contestant by the submission deadline, September 25.
A panel of judges from the Park Authority will select six winners based on originality, creativity, clarity, relevance to theme and spelling; two winners from each by age category:

▪ 11 to 13 years old
Winners will be announced on October 3rd. All winners will receive a certificate of achievement, a $50 dollar gift card, and an opportunity to share their poems at Frying Pan Farm Park on Saturday, Oct. 10.
