HERNDON, VA — Independence Day is quickly approaching, which means it's time to fire up that barbecue and find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on in and around Herndon for 2023.

Town of Herndon Celebration and Fireworks Display
Where: Bready Park, 814 Ferndale Ave., Herndon

When: July 4, 6:30 p.m.; Fireworks start at 9:30 p.m.
Town of Herndon is hosting its annual July 4th Celebration and fireworks display at Bready Park, featuring live music, bingo and family games. Fireworks will be launched at 9:30 p.m., from Herndon Centennial Golf Course.
- Remember all coolers and bags may be searched
- No alcohol, glass containers or personal fireworks, including sparklers, allowed.
- Glass containers, grills or cook stoves are prohibited.
- Bring a blanket or lawn chair.
Police will be closing Ferndale Avenue to through traffic from Vine Street to Barton Oaks Place once parking lots are full. The road will remained closed until the conclusion of fireworks.
Once the fireworks display is over, expect delays of up to 60 minutes in around Bready Park. Those who park at the Herndon Community Center may not exit until the fire marshal has given the all clear, which may be as long as 60 minutes after the end of the fireworks display.
The fire marshal will prohibit anyone on the Herndon Centennial Golf Course from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., on July.
In case of inclement weather, the fireworks may be delayed or postponed to July 5.

Where: Around National Mall, Washington, DC
There will be various events for Fourth of July in DC, including the National Independence Day Parade from 11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. along Constitution Avenue NW from 7th Street NW to 17th Street NW with marching bands, fife and drum corps, floats, military units, giant balloons, equestrian, drill teams and more. A Capitol Fourth Concert is a free event held on the West Lawn of the United States Capitol at 8 p.m. and will be livestreamed. Fireworks will be held starting at 9:09 p.m., launched from both sides of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
City of Fairfax Independence Day Parade
When: Tuesday, July 4 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Where: Downtown Fairfax, VA
The Independence Day Parade has been a tradition since 1967 and is the largest in Virginia. Parade participants include marching bands, floats, Shriners' little cars and big motorcycles, old fire engines, clowns and more. The parade is typically followed by an Old-Fashioned Fireman's Day with children's fire safety activities. Parade food vendors will also be on site.
