HERNDON, VA -- The first snow of 2020 didn't arrive without chaos as early dismissals spurred traffic jams around the area. But once you were off the roads and warming up in your home, you could simply enjoy the view of the snow falling.

Preliminary snowfall measurements from the National Weather Service indicate one area of Herndon got 1.4 inches of snow, which was about average for nearby areas in Northern Virginia.

Nevertheless, the snow presented picture-perfect photo opps in Herndon and surrounding areas. That's why we asked Patch readers to send photos of how the snow looks outside their windows.
