Friday Night Live! Returns To Herndon For 29th Season This Summer

HERNDON, VA — Starting May 5, the sound of live music will once again be heard across the Herndon Town Green, as Friday Night Live! returns for its 29th season.

“We have an exciting band lineup this year and can’t wait to see all our fans again this summer. It’s hard to believe that this is our 29th season,” said Laura Poindexter, the chairwoman of Friday Night Live!, in a release. "We have a great variety of bands within the rock cover band genre. Where other venues and concert series have moved toward tribute acts, we’ve found that our audience prefers a more varied experience at our events.”

Sponsored by the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce, Friday Night Live! has grown to become the longest running free outdoor concert series in the Washington, D.C. area.

“I love the fact that Friday Night Live! has great music and is a place to see all your friends and neighbors. I especially like the donations Friday Night Live! has made over the years to the Herndon All Night Grad Party and other community organizations,” said Herndon Mayor Sheila Olem, in a release.

This year, 16 concerts will be presented on the Herndon Town Green through the end of Augusts, featuring an array of local musicians.

Friday Night Live! is produced by the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce and brought to you by its title sponsor Volkswagen Group of America is the title sponsor for Friday Night Live!, which was created as an economic development tool to promote Downtown Herndon.

Concertgoers are encouraged to purchase food from nearby restaurants, including Dairy Queen, Bolay, Domino’s Pizza, and Jimmy’s Old Town Tavern. A variety of beer and wine will be available to purchase by the event's organizers, with the proceeds benefiting the chamber. Aportions of the tip money from alcohol sales will go to fund the Herndon High School All Night alcohol-free Grad Party.

Over its 29 years, Friday Night Live! has been supported many other local organization, such as the Herndon Optimist Club, the Herndon Woman’s Club, the Herndon Fraternal Order of Police, and many Herndon-area PTAs.
