Democrat Irene Shin Declared Unofficial Winner In 86th District Delegate Race
With nearly all of the votes counted, Democrat Irene Shin was declared the unofficial winner of the 86th District House of Delegates Race.

HERNDON, VA — Democrat Irene Shin was declared the unofficial winner in the 86th District race for the House of Delegates at 11 a.m. on Wednesday by the Associated Press.
Although votes were still being counted Wednesday morning, the AP said that Shin had 17,168 (65.13%) votes compared to Republican challenger Julie Perry's 9,845 (34.56%) with 19 of 22 precincts reporting.

Both Shin and Perry were newcomers to politics. Shin had defeated incumbent Del. Ibraheem Samirah in the Democratic Party Primary in June.
Most of the attention Tuesday night was on the statewide races for governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general. It turned out to be a sweep for Republican candidates, with Glenn A.Youngkin, Winsome E. Sears and Jason S. Miyares, winning the governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general races, respectively.

Fairfax County voters also had a chance Tuesday to show their support or opposition to the proposed $360 million public school bond. With 247 precincts of 250 reporting as of 10:30 a.m., the measure appears to have passed unofficially with 174,236 votes for and 82,676 against.

Unofficial Results from the Virginia Department of Elections (Nov. 3, 11:58 a.m.) Patch will update them when the information becomes available. The final results for all races will be officially certified on Nov. 15.
