Herndon High School Presents 'Hello, Dolly!'

Herndon High will host three performances of the award-winning musical this weekend beginning Friday, Aug. 1.

Herndon High School’s 2014 Summer Grand Theatre production of “Hello, Dolly!” kicks off this weekend as dozens of Herndon-area students perform one of the most successful musicals of all time.

Directed by Herndon High School drama teacher Zoë Dillard with musical direction by Herndon High choral director Dana Van Slyke, the Summer Theatre Production Camp attracts students ranging from 7th graders to recent high school graduates of schools across the area. Students have rehearsed since July 7 to master challenging choreography by Colby Dezelick and award-winning musical numbers conducted by Jim Van Slyke.

Based on the play “The Matchmaker” by Thornton Wilder, “Hello, Dolly!” follows Dolly Levi, a “meddlesome” matchmaker who travels to Yonkers, New York to find a match for the “well-known unmarried half-a-millionaire” Horace Vandergelder.
