Herndon HS Theatre Gets 'Fool'-ish With 1st Show Of 2023 Season

Herndon Theatre kicks off a "Season of Curses" with its production of Neil Simon's comedy "Fools."

HERNDON, VA — More than 50 Herndon High School students are contributing to the theatre department's production of the Neil Simon comedy "Fools."

Set in late 19th century Ukraine, "Fools" follows school teacher Leon Tolchinsky as his takes a job in the small town of Kulyenchikov, where everyone is cursed with endless stupidity. It's job to break the spell before time runs out, without becoming a victim of the curse himself.

Herndon Theatre will present performances of "Fools" from Nov. 17-19. The curtain goes up at 7 p.m. on Friday; 2 p.m. and 7 p .m. on Saturday, and 2 p.m. on Sunday. More information about the show and how to purchase tickets is available online.

Not only is "Foods" Herndon Threatre's first production of the 2023-24 season, it also kicks off "A Season of Curses," which will feature a one-act reimagining of a Greek tale, "Persephone: A New Myth For a Hotter World" in February, and the classic musical "Fiddler on the Roof" in May.

Students leading the production of "Fools" are Gaby Bradley (Assistant Director), Charly Olsen (Stage Manager) and Henry Collins (Technical Director). Working behind-the scenes are the production and design team of Brandi Weston (choreographer), Amelie Aubouin (assistant stage manager), Christa Anderson (assistant stage manager), Carson Brownlee (assistant technical director), Isabella Ramsey (lighting designer), Lynn Milkiewicz (sound designer), and Jessica Maxson (costume designer).

Members of the cast include: Will McClough, Nora Blythe, Mateo Pinover, Morgan Butler, Tommy Maxson, Sarah Hawn, Rae Weston, Val Altmiller, Ethan Hardy, CJ Nemetz, Bo Chatterjee, Ellen Lawton, Rubi Dhungel, Maddie Allen, Cara Ethington, Emy Jimenez, Ace Lamoureux, Li Landrum, Allie Steinhardt, Ashly Alfaro Rocha, Rocio Merlos, Andrew Das and Ember Howard.
