Huge Mixed-Use Development Coming to Herndon: Report

The development would be built near the Innovation Center Metro station currently under construction and set to open in 2020.

HERNDON, VA — Herndon will be getting a giant mixed-use development near the future Innovation Center Metro station on the Silver Line.

MRP LP, which owns a 32-acre suburban office park near the planned station, has filed plans with Fairfax County to redevelop the location into a massive development project that includes 650,000 square feet of office space, 1,701 multifamily units, 112 townhouses and 44,000 square feet of retail, according to a Washington Business Journal report.

The area, currently called Liberty Park, has eight office buildings and is located within a quarter mile of the Innovation station, which will open in 2020. Office and retail space would be closer to the Metro than the residential space, according to the report.
