Huge New Housing Development Coming to Herndon
The development will serve two future Silver Line stations.

HERNDON, VA — A brand new development project will bring hundreds of housing units to the location of the new Herndon and Innovation stations on the Silver Line that are under construction west of the Wiehle-Reston East stop.
The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approved the Woodland Park Waterview project at their Dec. 6 meeting on a 12-acre site east of Centreville Road and north of Woodland Park Drive, the county said in a statement on Monday. The location sits about a half-mile from the under-construction Herndon and Innovation stations.
Woodland Park will offer three different kinds of housing: 295 apartments in a five-story building; 56 townhouse-style multifamily units; and 32 attached, four-story townhouses averaging 2,800 square feet of living space with two-car garages.

"The development will offer convenient access to transit, including the Herndon Metro Station, through pedestrian trails and bike lanes along Woodland Park Road," the statement reads. "Developer NVR Inc will build an on-street bike lane on the north side Woodland Park Road to Verisign Way. From Verisign Way, an off-street, 10-foot shared use path will run along Woodland Park Road to Centreville Road."
Woodland Park will also have almost 3 acres of public open space, along with a pond, pedestrian promenade, ampitheater and hiking trail.
