Major Redevelopment Project Coming to Herndon

A five-acre plot in downtown will be turned into commercial and residential use by Comstock Partners.

HERNDON, VA — The Herndon Town Council has decided to enter into negotiations with Comstock Partners for the redevelopment of nearly five acres in Herndon's downtown into residential and commercial structures.

The Herndon Town Council determined that Comstock Partners' proposal "best met the criteria established" by the request for proposals, and the town will now move forward with negotiations toward a comprehensive agreement with Comstock, the town said in a statement.

The land is located between Station Street to the east, Center Street to the west, south of the W&OD Trail, and north of Elden Street.

The town envisions building a four-story mixed-use/residential structure and three-story mixed-used commercial structure, as well as a public/private parking structure and an 18,000-square-foot arts center.

Comstock was one of two firms to submit proposals in 2015, with the other being The Stout & Teague Company. The council came to their decision on Nov. 30.
