L.A. Subway Builder Takes Over Phase 2 of Silver Line

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority named veteran engineering executive Charles Stark its new Silver Line chief Friday.

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority announced Friday that Charles Stark, former vice president and project executive for engineering firm Aecom, will succeed Pat Nowakowski as executive director of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail project and Silver Line chief.

Stark previously managed projects for the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transport Authority, including L.A.’s Westside Subway Extension. He also served as assistant general manager of San Francisco’s Bay Area Rapid Transit System.

Pat Nowakowski announced his resignation in April after five years working on the $5.6 billion rail project. Nowakowski took over as president of the MTA Long Island Rail Road in May.
