Patch Local Hero: Doctor Works Tirelessly To Help Herndon Community

Dr. Sergio R. Rimola promotes health literacy, volunteers with several institutions, and is the chairman of the Hispanic Medical Society.

HERNDON, VA— When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

How do you know the local hero?

Is my husband, mentor and former employer.

What does the local hero do?

He works tirelessly for our communities in all metropolitan area. He works tirelessly for health literacy and works as a volunteer for several institutions and programs. He is the chair of the Hispanic Medical Society, which covers the metropolitan area. He also teaches doctors at the Inova Ob/Gyn clinic and many others programs

Why do you believe the local hero should be recognized or honored?

For his commitment to help and improve the health and education in our communities and for volunteering tirelessly in several organizations. He has been a Latino adviser in the board in medical fields for the past two governors and the present governor in Virginia. He helped achieve successful goals for our community.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the local hero?

He is a kind and generous wherever they need him. He volunteered with no purpose of lucrative gains. He is very well know not only in the Hispanic community but other communities. Working in Fairfax County for 25 years.
