Patch Local Hero: Herndon Retiree Helps Out Harbor House Residents

HERNDON, VA— When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

Why do you believe the local hero should be recognized or honored?

Oh my where to start. We all live at Herndon Harbor House and independent senior housing development in the heart of Herndon. Many of us have had to downsize from a big house to small apartments and are limited with things that we took with us. Mohamed not only has a car and drives but he has a toolbox and is very knowledgeable with modern technology. He is retired from his lifetime career as an accountant, but he has not retired from life and kindness. If someone needs a ride to the doctor, he takes them if someone needs help with their computer he helps him if someone needs help setting up their printer. He helps them if someone needs a handyman job done in their apartment, he helps them, if someone needs to talk, he listens if someone needs help with paperwork. He helps them or finds resources for them. It seems like he never sleeps, and he is everywhere and shows up just at the right time. His generosity and his positive attitude with his time and his energy is much appreciated.

He is very giving of his time and his lifetime knowledge
