Ride to End ALZ Nation's Capital on May 3
Hundreds of cyclists to ride and raise funds for Alzheimer's and dementia research

The Alzheimer’s Association Ride to End ALZ Nation’s Capital returns to the region on Saturday, May 3. Now in its fourth year, this special event attracts hundreds of cyclists from across the country, with one hundred percent of proceeds raised supporting Alzheimer’s and dementia research. Since 2022, the Ride has raised more than $1.3 million. The goal for this year’s event is $750,000, with over 500 cyclists expected to participate.
The Ride will start and finish at Morven Park in Leesburg, VA. Participants will enjoy spectacular views along scenic routes in Loudoun County ranging from 10 – 100 miles. The fully supported event will have rest stops with snacks and amenities along every route, as well as trained Support and Gear (SAG) crews. Riders will enjoy breakfast and an after-party complete with catered meals and beverages.
Marisa Daley, president of The MIL Corporation, is the Executive Leadership Chair of this year’s Ride. “There is a need to expand awareness of the mission of the Alzheimer's Association and this event and I can help accomplish that," says Daley. "As an avid cyclist, I know my professional and athletic networks can bring new faces and connections to expand the success of this ride in its fourth year!”

Daley is joined by a team of dedicated volunteer committee members from across Virginia, DC and Maryland, each with a personal reason for being part of this important event.
Eric Allgaier lost his father, a brilliant Ph.D. physicist, to Alzheimer’s. His partner and fellow committee member Laurence Richard lost her husband, renowned chef Michel Richard, to dementia. “This is a disease that affects so many of us, both family members and friends,” says the couple. “We love the fact that all the money we raise goes directly to funding research. We are hopeful that our efforts will help lead to a cure so that we, our children, and so many others won't have to deal with the challenges of this disease."

Carol Stone, whose mother and mother-in-law had Alzheimer’s, helped to launch the inaugural Ride to End ALZ Nation’s Capital in 2022. Says Stone: “Meeting the volunteers and participating in the Ride is incredibly inspiring. Hearing their stories is emotional yet heartwarming. The connection to the mission and the support for each other is profound. It is magical! Build a team, donate, volunteer, spread awareness, advocate. You will be glad you did. There is so much we can and will accomplish together.”
