Salon De Muse To Celebrate Grand Opening Of Herndon Spa On Saturday

HERNDON, VA — Even though The Salon de Muse, Herndon's luxury salon and spa, opened its doors for business in January, co-owners Amanda Hickox and Wendy Laird decided they still wanted to throw a party to celebrate the occasion, even if it's a few months after the fact.

On Saturday, The Salon de Muse is throwing a grand opening party from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the salon's location at 366 Victory Drive in Herndon.

Hickox and Laird invite the public to come and enjoy drinks, live music, and food from a Latin fusion food truck. Then, at 4 p.m., Mayor Sheila Olem and members of the Herndon Town Council will stop by for an official ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Patch caught up with Hickox recently to talk about how the business started and what The Salon de Muse has to offer its customers.

Patch: What led up to you and Laird opening The Salon de Muse in Herndon?

Amanda Hickox: We actually came from Elizabeth Arden Red Door, and we opened a business in Herndon in 2018 called Luxe Style Room. It was just a little 400 square foot salon suite. We outgrew that space very quickly, and we signed the lease on Muse in January of 2022. Building permits and everything delayed it and it took us about a year to build out the salon.

What can you tell me about The Salon de Muse?

It's a 1,600-square-foot salon with fixtures. Currently, it's Wendy and I who work there and then on the second floor, we have three treatment rooms where we have an esthetician named Sivas KC. She specializes in threading and waxing and facials.

I personally specialize in hand-tied hair extensions and color. Wendy specializes in keratin treatments and cutting. She also offers extensions.

We're a high-end salon-spa that has a very laid back, very family-oriented vibe on the inside.

What do you like about owning/operating a business in Herndon?

We came from Fairfax and we we wanted to stay in an area that was still central to people, because we have clients from Maryland, D.C., Western Loudoun and Prince William County. We have clients in a very large radius and we're still very easily accessible.

Herndon is so close to the Toll Road, Route 28 and Route 7, West Ox Road/Route 50, so that's a very convenient location. Also, Downton Herndon is so incredibly cute.

The Salon de Muse is located at 366 Victory Drive in Herndon. Its open Monday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Tuesday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Occasionally, the business will be open on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
