Mellow Mushroom Is Open!

5. Report: Police Search Herndon Home of Gun Activist Adam Kokesh

The Town of Herndon experienced a bit of fame recently, when it became known that pro-gun, anti-government activist Adam Kokesh - who had recently threatened an armed march on Washington on July 4th - lived in the town. After he posted a solo video of himself loading a shotgun in the middle of Freedom Plaza in D.C., federal officers descended upon the Town and raided his home, taking him away in handcuffs. A party took a near-deadly turn in outer Herndon last month. Fortunately, police caught the other teen responsible a few days later - see story #3 on our list.

Unfortunately the 17-year-old victim was still in critical condition in the hospital at last report, but a small comfort is that police were able to put the other teen responsible behind bars.

Several readers wrote in the morning of this frightening incident, asking what all the police activity - including canine and helicopter units - was for. Even scarier? Turns out the three suspects were also involved in an even more violent incident earlier that morning in Sterling.
