Vegan Ice Cream Shop To Celebrate Grand Opening Of Herndon Storefront
Crème de la Crop, which makes vegan ice cream, is hosting a Sept. 9 ribbon-cutting ceremony for its storefront in the Herndon Business Park.

HERNDON, VA — Vegan ice cream maker Crème de la Crop will be celebrating the grand opening of its new storefront in the Herndon Business Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 12 noon on Saturday, Sept. 9.
“As a lactose intolerant pastry chef with a litany of allergies, I wanted to create a product I could finally eat, that tastes just like the real thing," said Olivia Green, the chef and owner of Crème de la Crop, in a release. "Too many times I’ve seen places check off a box on a menu to appease a demographic, with little thought behind the food. People with dietary restrictions are an often-neglected population – and deserve to have delicious, thoughtful food (including dessert). And even though our ice cream is crafted for vegans and people with allergies, it’s meant for everyone! Seriously, dairy lovers find it indistinguishable from the real thing.”
After selling vegan ice cream at the Reston Farmers Market at Lake Anne on Aug. 5, Crème de la Crop started taking pre-orders at 12 p.m., on Sunday, Aug. 6. Customers could then pick up their orders the following Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the company's new retail location at 273 Sunset Park Drive in Herndon.

The Herndon retail space will maintain the same hours on select Saturdays for customers to drop in and pick up batches of ice cream. The company plans to expand its hours in the fall.
Customers can anticipate a rotating selection of seasonal menu flavors like Tahini Caramel, Grasshopper, Banana Nut Brulée, and Coconut Key Lime.

Crème de la Crop is sharing its Herndon Business Park space with Chiboo Bakery and owner Tan Hweii Chiee will also participate in the Sept. 9 ribbon-cutting ceremony.
"We are very lucky to share a storefront with another woman-owned business and are excited to call Herndon our new home," Green said.
Chiboo specializes in making macarons with Californian-grown ground almond. The bakery is open for walk-in customers from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., on Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Saturday.
