Adult Novice Rowing Camp

Join PWRC on the water for six sessions of rowing fun! Participants will learn basic rowing technique, in boats mixed with novices and experienced rowers. This is a fantastic opportunity to try out rowing before signing up for the novice season! The class will meet Tuesday 6-8 PM, Thursday 6-8 PM, and Saturday 8-10 AM, with an identical schedule for the second week. The class will end on the last day with a mini-regatta.

What is PWRC?
Prince William Rowing Club (PWRC) is a Master’s rowing club based out of Lake Ridge Park on the Occoquan River. We are 80 members strong, and range in age from teens to 70’s. We row from June through November on the lovely waters of the Occoquan River.

What should I wear?
Wear athletic clothing or clothing that is easy to move in. Beware that pants or shorts that are too loose may get stuck or snagged on the seat tracks in the boats. It’s also recommended to bring a hat or sunglasses, a pair of socks, and a bottle of water with you.

What happens if the weather is bad?
If it’s raining, we’ll typically still get out and row. In this case, a light waterproof jacket with a hood, and a ballcap, is a great way to keep the rain out of your face and hair. If it is thundering and lightning, then we’ll show up at the boathouse to see if it will pass over, but we can’t get on the water until the lightning has passed due to safety reasons. If the storm doesn’t pass, a decision will be made on whether to cancel or do a land session on the rowing machines.

Will we get out on the water on our first day?
Yes! Absolutely!
