Justice For Basie Petition Calls For End to Animal Euthanizations in Fairfax

After an Occoquan dog was euthanized early this month in an animal hospital in Fairfax County, Fairfax Animal Lovers sponsored a petition to end animal euthanizations in Fairfax County.

After a 17-year-old dog named Basie was after she was reportedly picked up as a stray and taken to Crosspointe Animal Hospital, Fairfax Animal Lovers have sponsored a petition to end animal euthanizations in Fairfax County.

The petition, called Justice for Basie!, has 31,660 signatures at the time of this article. Their goal is 35,000 signatures.

"The vet who euthanized Basie claims that he was under instruction from the Fairfax Animal Control; Fairfax Animal Control says it gave him no such directions. Regardless of who is at fault, there is only one way to make sure this tragedy never happens again in Fairfax. Ask Fairfax County to stop euthanizing animals in its shelters!" the petition reads.
