Haggerty, a long time Woodbridge resident and a , passed away April 15 in his home in Compton, MD.
"Mr. Haggerty served as a Delegate to the Prince William County Fireman's Association and the Prince William County Fire Board. He held the rank of Assistant Fire Chief and President and was a member of the Board of Directors of OWL VFD," a prepared statement from OWL read.

Four members of the Fire Department Honor Guard from OWL Volunteer Fire Department Station 2 took turns standing watch at the wake, in full dress uniform.
Haggerty will be buried May 26 at 11 a.m. at Quantico National Ceremony in a graveside service with military honors, in recognition of his service in the Marine Corps from 1950 to 1952. While serving as a marine, he was injured on board battleship USS New Jersey.
