Despite the crowded schedule of practices and games played on the main athletic fields at Hampton Middle School, student soccer players at the school can practice or play their sport any time. That’s thanks to a new futsal court available in the space formerly occupied by one of four tennis courts at the school. Futsal is a version of soccer played with two goalies and eight players on a mini soccer pitch. C.J. Sapong, a former Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) student and a current major league soccer player, helped to secure the funding for the futsal court.

“The population here at Hampton Middle loves soccer,” said Jehovanni Mitchell, principal of Hampton Middle. “I would like to thank the U.S. Soccer Foundation, Black Players for Change, Black Women’s Player Collective, Musco Lighting, and adidas for choosing Hampton as the site for the mini-pitch futsal court.”
