As students, teachers and school personnel get ready to go back to school, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 37018 Glendale Street in Purcellville, is hosting their annual Blessing of the Backpacks as part of the Sunday, August 20 service that begins at 9:30 a.m. The community is invited to bring backpacks, laptop cases or briefcases to receive a special blessing to carry them throughout the year.

“This is a way to let the students and faculty know they are not alone as they begin a new year. We hope you’ll come celebrate the beginning of a new school year with us, receive a blessing and a prayer. And enjoy some ice cream too,” said Fr. Tom Simmons, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.

St. Peter’s is also filling backpacks to be blessed then given to those in need. Donations of school supplies to help fill extra backpacks will be accepted, visit the link for more information.
