Battlefield Traffic Signal At Plaza Street in Leesburg Now Operational

The traffic signal installed at Battlefield Parkway and Plaza Street became operational Thursday afternoon, including signaled pedestrian crosswalks. Drivers and should be aware of the changes. The crosswalks will likely be in full effect Tuesday, Sept. 3, the first day of Loudoun County Public Schools.

Traffic on Battlefield between the Route 15 Bypass and North King Street has increased significantly since the opening of Tuscarora High School and the development of Exeter Shopping Center. In addition, a barrier on Catoctin Circle at North Street has been removed, further impacting Battlefield.

The new signal is expected to improve safety, and was accelerated to complete the project before the school year.
