KKK Flyers Distributed In Downtown Leesburg

Leesburg Police said flyers referencing the Ku Klux Klan had been found on several streets over the weekend.

LEESBURG, VA — Flyers referencing white supremacist group the Ku Klux Klan were found in downtown Leesburg over the weekend, according to Leesburg Police.

Officers had responded Saturday morning to reports of flyers mentioning the KKK. The flyers were in small Ziploc-style style bags with rocks to weigh them down. The flyers were located along Loudoun Street SW, S. King Street, and E. Market Street.

Officers canvassed the area and collected several flyers. Residents and business owners in the downtown area are asked to check their video surveillance cameras for suspicious activity between midnight and 6 a.m. on Saturday.

There have been reports of KKK flyers in Leesburg in past years as well.

"The Leesburg Police Department condemns the distribution of any material that promotes hate or intolerance within our community," Leesburg Police said in a statement. "We are committed to ensuring Leesburg remains a safe, welcoming place for all residents and visitors."
