  1. The Loudon County Sheriff's Office is hosting several fentanyl awareness sessions. Brought on by an increase of Northern Virginia students who overdosed and died of fentanyl in the last few months, Loudoun County Public Schools and the sheriff's office are partnering to host a series of fentanyl awareness sessions for families. During the information session, attendees will hear the Leesburg Police Department specifically outline the scope of the opioid problem in Loudoun County. (WUSA9.com)
  2. More details were released about the alleged Freedom High School teacher-student assault. On Feb. 3, Alfredo Gaudry allegedly hit a student in the chin/jaw area. Deputy 1st Class Jason D. Gadell, the Freedom school resource officer, said "Gaudry stated he was faster than [the student] and told [the student] to look down. As he looked down, Gaudry swung his hand up and struck [the student] in the chin/jaw area. [The student] advised this happened twice and Gaudry hit him the first time, but missed the second time." 3. On Friday, Loudoun County broke ground on a major north-south connector road. No longer an empty field, Loudoun County and other transportation officials broke ground on the missing link of the county's road plan, which will be known as Northstar Boulevard when it will driveable in 2025.
