LCSO Revisits Cold Case of Missing Purcellville Woman

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Cold Case Unit is investigating the 1994 disappearance of an 80-year-old Purcellville woman.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is reopening the cold case of Agnes Banwell, an elderly Purcellville woman who was reported missing just nine days before her 81st birthday.

Banwell, 80, was reportedly suffering from short-term memory loss and may have appeared disoriented when she was reported missing on July 2, 1994. Investigators believe she was attempting to return to the New York area.

At the time of her disappearance, Banwell was described as being 5’2” tall, 80 pounds, with blue eyes and permed short gray hair. Banwell was last seen in Purcellville wearing a white floral print over dark blue background house dress, brown shoes, and a pink sweater with scalloped edges.
