Leesburg Restaurant Inspections: Senor Ramon Taqueria

The Loudoun County Health Department recorded violations at several facilities around western Loudoun County during recent inspections.

LEESBURG, VA — Several restaurants around Leesburg and western Loudoun County recorded violations during recent inspections from the health department. Inspectors conducted the most recent restaurant visits between May 24 and May 30.

Most COVID-19 restrictions around the state have relaxed, so health inspectors are returning to conduct some restaurant inspections in person. However, some visits, such as those for training purposes, can be conducted virtually.

Violations at restaurants typically focus on factors that can contribute to food contamination. The local health department can also perform a re-inspection to ensure that possible violations have been corrected.

For every observed violation, the inspector provides a specific corrective action that can be completed to rectify the violation. Sometimes these are simple, and violations can be corrected during the course of the inspection.

  • Homewood Suites by Hilton Leesburg, 115 Fort Evans Rd NE Leesburg, VA 20176
    • Date inspected: May 24
    • Total violations: 2
      • The cream cheese on the display counter was observed with an internal temperature of 60 F. The internal temperature needs to be 41 F or less. if this item is held over for service for another day.
      • Manager could not provide a method to verify the food utensils are reaching 160 F in the dish machine for sanitizing. A heat sensitive strip or a high recording thermometer is required to be used in the dish machine to verify that the food contract surfaces are being sanitized.
  • Loudoun Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 224 Cornwall St NW Leesburg, VA 20176
    • Date inspected: May 24
    • Total violations: 3
      • Observed exterior door near dry storage area to not be tight fitting. Door was observed with daylight around the door seam at the bottom of the door. Ensure outer openings are tight fitting to prevent the entry of pests.
      • Observed boxes of single service items stored on the floor. Single-service and single-use articles shall be stored in a clean, dry location; where they are not exposed to splash, dust, or other contamination; and at least six inches above the floor.
      • Observed no irreversible measuring temperature indicator to measure if the high temperature dish machine is properly sanitizing. In hot water mechanical warewashing operations, an irreversible registering temperature indicator shall be provided and readily accessible for measuring the utensil surface temperature.

    • Total violations: 1
      • Two bottles of prescription medicines improperly stored on top of the stand up cooler in the back kitchen. All personal care items, medicines and first aid supplies must be stored in such a way to prevent potential contamination of food, food contact items, equipment, utensils, linens, single-service and single-use articles.

    • Date inspected: May 26
    • Total violations: 7
      • Observed bar hand sink blocked with a sanitizer bucket. Hand sink should be available for employees use at all times.
      • Observed at bar in the ice bin the scoop handle touching ice. Ice scoop should be stored in a way to not contaminate the ice.
      • Observed plastic container in sanitizing bowl of 3-compartment sink. Food contacted surfaces should be washed, rinsed, and sanitized and sanitizer should be 50-100 ppm for chlorine sanitizer.
      • Observed a bottle of ibuprofen stored in cooking area by to soda machine. Should be located to prevent the contamination of food, equipment, utensils, linens, and single-service and single-use articles.
      • Observed in use knife being stored in-between steam table and prep cooler. Food contact items should be stored in a location that can be washed, rinsed, and sanitized.
      • Observed wiping cloths used to wipe cutting boards stored in sanitizer bucket at 0 ppm. Cloths in-use for wiping cutting boards should be in sanitizer of 50-100 ppm chlorine.
      • Observed cutting boards on cook line and prep cooler with heavy scaring making them not easily cleanable.
