Leesburg Restaurant Inspections: Subway, Bia Kitchen
The Loudoun County Health Department recorded violations at several facilities around western Loudoun County during recent inspections.
LEESBURG, VA — Several restaurants around Leesburg and western Loudoun County recorded violations during recent inspections from the health department. Inspectors conducted the most recent restaurant visits between May 31 and June 5.
Most COVID-19 restrictions around the state have relaxed, so health inspectors are returning to conduct some restaurant inspections in person. However, some visits, such as those for training purposes, can be conducted virtually.
Violations at restaurants typically focus on factors that can contribute to food contamination. The local health department can also perform a re-inspection to ensure that possible violations have been corrected.

- Observed improper hot holding temperature of meatballs in marinara 125F. Foods held hot should be maintained at 135F or above.

- At the time of inspection there was no Certified Food Protection Manager available. At least one employee with supervisory and management responsibility and authority to direct and control food preparation and service shall be a certified food protection manager.
- Handwash sink adjacent to dishmachine area was out of soap. Person-in-charge provided soap. Provide hand soap at each hand sink to allow employees to properly wash their hands. Corrected at inspection.
- Raw shell eggs stored in walk-in above ready-to-eat food (cheeses). Maintain raw animal protein below ready-to-eat food. PIC relocated eggs to shelf below ready to eat food items. Corrected at inspection.

- Observed 3 compartment sink plumbing under the sink to have a direct connection into the floor drain. No air gap was observed. A direct connection may not exist between the sewage system and a drain originating from equipment in which food, portable equipment, or utensils are placed
