Leesburg Woman Dies in Rt. 9 Crash Near Hillsboro
A 43-year-old Leesburg woman was killed in a two-car crash west of Hillsboro Tuesday.

A Leesburg woman was killed in a crash involving two cars just east of the West Virginia state line Tuesday.
Shani E. Hickman, 43, of Leesburg, rounded a curve driving eastbound on Rt. 9 west of Hillsboro when her 1988 Subaru Legacy crossed into another lane. The vehicle reportedly collided with a westbound 2006 Chevy Impala driven by James Preston of Ohio. Hickman’s vehicle overturned, landing on its roof and causing the Preston’s vehicle to hit the guardrail.
The incident occurred around 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, Leesburg Today reports.

Hickman was flown to INOVA Fairfax Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Preston was treated for non-life threatening injuries at INOVA’s Loudoun Medical Campus in Leesburg.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, according to Virginia State Police.
