Loudoun Zoning Calls for Input on By-Right School Uses
The county is contemplating allowing schools to be by-right uses, rather than special exception uses.

Loudoun County Zoning Administration staff has scheduled a second public input/outreach meeting related to a proposal to allowe the construction of public schools in most zoning districts as by-right uses, rather than as special exception uses. Special exception uses require a separate public process for approval. The hearing is set for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 31 at Woodgrove High School, 36811 Allder School Road, in Purcellville.
Zoning staff will consider the comments when drafting proposed changes fro approval by the Loudoun Board of Supervisors. In June, the board approved an Intent to Amend the Loudoun County Zoning Ordinance to permit the schools without a special exception in most zoning districts, subject to regulations and performance standards designed to mitigate the impact on neighbors.
