LTE: May Is Best-qualified Candidate in 33rd

A member of the business community throws her support to the incumbent delegate.

Dear Editor,

Although school is out and minds are properly focused on summer, it’s critical that residents in Virginia’s 33rd House of Delegates District (parts of western Loudoun, Clarke and Frederick Counties) exercise their right to vote in the June 11 Republican Primary.

It’s important that we elect someone who is well suited to represent the best interests of the district in the Virginia General Assembly. How do you do that? You vote on the candidate who is best qualified based on experience and past performance. Similar to hiring a new employee, it’s up to the voter to examine background and qualifications for the job. If you don’t do that, well, you may get what you vote for. After examining experience and record of accomplishments, the proper recommendation is Joe May for the 33rd.

He is an accomplished professional engineer and business owner of 36 years, holder of 22 patents for various ingenious inventions (including that cool yellow line on the TV screen marking the yard line an NFL football team needs to reach for a first down); recipient of various chamber of commerce, newspaper and engineering awards; developer of several innovative programs to save taxpayer dollars like Pave in Place, Rural Rustic Roads and Quiet Pavement, and leader of the effort at the state level to study the feasibility of underground power lines in an effort to conserve our landscape.

This unique background and skill set has made him one of the most respected legislators in Virginia (He is only one of two professional engineers there, apparently).  Why wouldn’t you hire him back?
