Man Pleads Guilty in Murder-For-Hire Plot

A man pleaded guilty to trying to hire a hitman to murder his wife.

An Annapolis man accused of trying to hire a hitman from Virginia to kill his wife pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder this week.

Wendell Brian Mansel pleaded guilty on Monday in Loudoun County Circuit Court in Virginia to multiple crimes, including three counts of conspiracy to commit murder, criminal solicitation to commit a felony and use of a firearm in commission of a felony, according to The Capital Gazette.

Mansel was arrested by Leesburg Police in August after someone reported the plot. He had traveled to Leesburg to meet with an undercover officer who posed as a hitman.

He faces up to 18 years in jail for the charges, according to The Capital.
