Sycolin Road Reopens Tuesday, Aug. 12

Sycolin Road, closed since June 2013 for construction of a bridge over the Route 7/15 bypass, reopens to traffic next Tuesday.


Loudoun County and Leesburg officials will celebrate the reopening of Sycolin Road Tuesday, Aug. 12 with a ribbon cutting over the 7/15 Bypass.

Join Virginia Secretary of Transportation Aubrey Layne Loudoun County Board of Supervisors chairman Scott York and Leesburg Mayor Kristen Umstattd along with senior Virginia Dept. of Transportation officials, members of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, and Leesburg Town Council members for the ribbon cutting ceremony taking place at 10 a.m.

Sycolin Road closed in June 2013 as crews began construction of the bridge over the 7/15 Bypass. The road will reopen to traffic Tuesday, Aug. 12 at 12 p.m.

The construction of sound barriers and other parts of the overpass project will extend into Nov. 2014. The Town of Leesburg’s work on a portion of the road is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Parking for the ribbon cutting will be on Sycolin Road between Gateway Drive and the north side of the bridge.
